Article: El Dorado Hills neighors join forces for fire safety

Two homeowners’ associations in El Dorado Hills which joined the national Firewise USA program within days of each other in February teamed up May 3 to learn how they can make their neighborhoods safer from the risk of wildfire.
The Sterlingshire and Highland View HOAs co-sponsored their first Firewise Fair, which featured five speakers on topics such as home-hardening and emergency preparedness, as well as about a dozen vendors. Residents of the two hillside neighborhoods located off Silva Valley Parkway and Green Valley Road were able to see products such as fire-resistant vents and fire blankets and to hear about steps to help prepare for the growing risk of wildfire, especially creating vegetation-free zones next to homes.
